Škoda Auto has launched series production of its all-electric Elroq at the company’s main plant in Mladá Boleslav. This compact SUV rolls off a flexible assembly line alongside the new Škoda Enyaq and the Octavia. To accommodate a daily output of up to 600 Elroq units, part of the Octavia’s production was relocated to the Kvasiny plant last year. Positioned as one of the most affordable offerings in its segment across Europe, the Elroq reaches price parity with its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart in several markets. It shares the same MEB platform as the Enyaq, which became one of Europe’s bestselling fully electric vehicles (EVs) last year.

Production on a unique, flexible assembly line
The all-new Škoda Elroq is being manufactured at the Czech carmaker’s main plant in Mladá Boleslav – the only Volkswagen Group facility in Europe where the ICE Octavia (MQB platform) and the recently updated, all-electric Enyaq (MEB platform) are produced side by side. This strategic decision allows the plant to rapidly adapt to shifts in consumer demand.

To free up production capacity, Octavia production was partially relocated to the Kvasiny plant in 2024, allowing space in Mladá Boleslav to manufacture up to 600 Elroq vehicles daily. The Mladá Boleslav plant also produces battery systems for these MEB vehicles. In addition to the new Elroq and updated Enyaq, the traction batteries are used in the electric models of other Volkswagen Group brands. In December 2024, the plant reached the milestone of one million battery systems produced.

Elroq compact SUV: A strategically important addition to the line-up
The Škoda Elroq is the brand’s first fully electric model in the popular compact SUV segment and Škoda’s first production model to adopt the new Modern Solid design language. With a competitive starting price of around €33,000 (before any state subsidies) in select European markets, it is the most affordable vehicle in its segment when factoring in its battery capacity and extensive standard equipment.

By achieving list price parity with its ICE counterpart in many markets, Škoda Auto furthers its commitment to offering customers the freedom of choice and the best of both powertrain worlds. The Elroq is available with three battery sizes and multiple power configurations, delivering system outputs ranging from 125 kW to 210 kW and offering up to 82 kWh (77 kWh usable) of battery capacity. The Elroq 85 model achieves a maximum range of up to 581 km (WLTP) and can charge from 10% to 80% in just 25–28 minutes, depending on the battery option.

Demand for the all-new Škoda Elroq has been strong, with over 20,000 orders already received by the end of 2024.

The fourth-generation Superb Hatch will soon be available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Configurators for the new addition to the all-new Superb line-up will open in various markets over the coming weeks. Pairing a 1.5 TSI engine with an electric motor, the system delivers a combined output of 150 kW (204 hp). The Superb Hatch iV offers an all-electric range of more than 120 kilometres (WLTP), and its battery can be charged from 10% to 80% at DC fast charging stations in just 26 minutes. Production of the Superb Hatch iV will launch in the second quarter of 2025.

 

Second-generation plug-in hybrid drive
The Hatch variant of the fourth-generation Superb will soon be released with a plug-in hybrid powertrain to complement the Superb Combi iV. The second-generation plug-in hybrid powertrain in the Superb Hatch iV combines a four-cylinder 1.5 TSI turbocharged petrol engine, delivering 110 kW (150 hp), with an electric motor. They produce a combined system output of 150 kW (204 hp), with power delivered to the front wheels via a six-speed DSG transmission. The high-voltage battery, with a gross capacity of 25.7 kWh, comprises four modules and is housed beneath the rear seats.

A three-phase permanent magnet synchronous electric motor is integrated into the transmission and separated from the internal combustion engine by a clutch. This motor can operate independently to propel the vehicle or work in tandem with the petrol engine.
In E-mode, the electric motor alone provides a maximum output of 85 kW and 330 Nm of torque. It also serves to start the internal combustion engine and replaces the traditional alternator.

The Superb Hatch iV utilises its 1.5 TSI petrol engine and electric motor in three configurations, depending on the selected driving mode. In addition to the standard driving modes found in the Superb range (Eco, Comfort, Normal, Sport, Individual), the Superb Hatch iV offers three additional hybrid options: E-mode, Hybrid mode, and Sport mode.

Long all-electric range and short charging times
The Superb Hatch iV offers convenient charging options to suit different needs. It can be fully recharged from 0 to 100% in 2.5 hours using a domestic wallbox or an AC charging point with a maximum charging rate of 11 kW. For quicker charging, the battery supports DC fast charging at up to 50 kW, allowing it to charge from 10% to 80% in 26 minutes. While driving, the battery is continually recharged through regenerative braking, which recovers kinetic energy during deceleration.

With an all-electric range of more than 120 kilometres (WLTP), the Superb Hatch iV is well-suited to everyday driving. The latest-generation model introduces updates such as second-generation LED Matrix headlights, a redesigned interior with Škoda Smart Dials for more intuitive operation, and a streamlined range structure with Design Selections. It also includes enhanced safety features, advanced assistance systems, and a broad range of powertrains, marking the debut of mild-hybrid technology and the new-generation plug-in hybrid system.

The Superb Hatch iV will be available to order in international markets in the coming weeks.

The all-new Škoda Kodiaq is rounding off a remarkable year by winning another key industry accolade. Having already scooped a number of awards in 2024, the Czech SUV has been named 4x4 of the Year by the judging panel at Overlander 4x4 magazine.

 

In addition to winning the overall award, the new, second-generation Kodiaq was crowned Best Medium SUV by the title. The judging panel, made up of 4x4 experts and motoring journalists, praised the new Kodiaq’s all-round ability and exceptional practicality.

 

Despite only arriving in the UK earlier this year, the second-generation Kodiaq has already inherited its predecessor’s winning streak. Earlier this year it was named Family Car of the Year in the Scottish Car of the Award, Best Large Family Car 2025 by Carbuyer and was Highly Commended in the Carwow Awards and Parkers New Car Awards.

The previous model, launched in 2016, won more than 120 industry titles during its production run. Škoda has also posted a string of strong performances in the Scottish Car of the Year Awards, with the Enyaq taking the overall Car of the Year title in 2021.

Available in both seven- and five-seater forms, the new Kodiaq is the first to be offered with an advanced plug-in hybrid drivetrain that is capable of driving up to 74 miles in pure electric mode.

Škoda is set to open order books for the latest member of the all-new Kodiaq family – the vRS. The sporting flagship of the range follows in the wheel tracks of its acclaimed predecessor and means that, once more, up to seven occupants can enjoy the vRS experience. Priced from £52,595 OTR and available to order from 16 January 2025, the new Kodiaq vRS delivers more power and performance than the previous vRS range-topper, and benefits from all the practicality, comfort and design improvements introduced on the new, second-generation model.

 

As befits it position as the sporting flagship of the new Kodiaq range, the vRS comes with a feature-packed specification list. Included as standard are LED Matrix beam headlights, KESSY Advanced system with Open On Approach and Walk Away Locking, Canton sound system and an electrically operated boot with Virtual Pedal.

 

The new Kodiaq vRS is powered by a 2.0 TSI petrol engine that develops 265 PS - an increase of 20 PS over the previous model. The motor’s torque output of 400 Nm is the highest of any current combustion-powered Škoda production model and gives the Kodiaq remarkable flexibility and performance. The new vRS is capable of sprinting from 0-62 mph in just 6.4 seconds and has a top speed of 143 mph. Despite its remarkable performance, it returns 33.8 mpg on the WLTP combined cycle.

Power distribution to all four wheels is handled by a seven-speed DSG transmission, while a new Dynamic Sound Boost system ensures that the Kodiaq vRS has a soundtrack that matches its sporting nature. 

The all-new sporting flagship of the Kodiaq range features a design package, which is unique to the vRS sub-range, that includes a gloss black finish for the grille frame, D-pillar and window frames.

The vRS model has a redesigned front bumper with various elements finished in black, along with a horizontal light strip in the grille. As with all Škoda vRS models, the rear features a reflector strip that spans the entire width of the car. The Škoda lettering and model designation on the tailgate also come in black, while the rear bumper and side sills are painted in body colour. Polished stainless-steel exhaust tips are visible under the rear bumper while standard 20-inch Elias alloy wheels with a polished black finish, complete the vRS design package.

The bespoke vRS Lounge Design Selection includes sports seats with integrated headrests and black microsuede/artificial leather upholstery with red contrast stitching. Both front seats are electrically adjustable as standard and come with a memory function. The headlining is finished in black while the dashboard panels, door inserts and centre armrest are all trimmed with black microsuede material.

The driving environment is suitably sporty with a three-spoke multifunction sports steering wheel with red stitching and a vRS badge on the lowest spoke. Stainless-steel pedal covers are included as standard while the front door sills feature Kodiaq lettering.

The laminated glass of the acoustic side windows at the front and rear improves comfort inside the car through even better sound insulation. And, like the other Kodiaq models, the vRS features both a 10.25-inch Virtual Cockpit and a free-standing 13-inch infotainment screen as standard. To ensure that drivers are in no doubt about the model they are driving, the infotainment system displays a vRS welcome logo upon start-up.

Naturally, the Kodiaq vRS has a chassis set-up designed to appeal to driving enthusiasts. Progressive steering is fitted as standard, along with DCC Plus Dynamic Chassis Control, which extends the range of damping characteristics. DCC Plus offers 15 settings ranging from comfortable to sporty and continuously adjusts the dampers to deliver an optimised driving experience. Drive Mode Select is also included as standard. This allows drivers to choose between Eco, Comfort, Normal, Sport, Individual and Snow modes, each with corresponding electronic damper adjustment. An Off-Road mode is included as well.

Finally, to ensure that the Kodiaq vRS stops as efficiency as it accelerates, drivers benefit from ventilated front and rear brake disks and larger two-piston calipers on the front axle. To further enhance its sporting credentials, the calipers are finished in gloss red.

In addition to the new vRS model, Škoda is also introducing a new engine option to the Kodiaq range. A new 2.0-litre TSI petrol unit delivers an output of 204 PS and 320 Nm of torque and is available on SE L and SportLine trims. All models equipped with the new engine feature a seven-speed DSG gearbox and 4x4 all-wheel drive as standard.

Škoda has released exterior sketches of the new Enyaq and Enyaq Coupé, offering a first glimpse of the major design update for its all-electric best-seller. The sketches highlight key elements of the Modern Solid design language, including a reimagined front featuring an illuminated Tech‑Deck Face, Škoda lettering, and LED Matrix beam headlights integrated into a striking new bumper. Additional design highlights include Unique Dark Chrome accents and the Enyaq-exclusive Olibo Green colour. As one of Europe’s best-selling BEVs in 2024, the Škoda Enyaq family topped the sales charts in October. With the upcoming new Enyaq, Škoda aims to build on the series’ success while accelerating the electrification of its fleet by continuously enhancing and expanding its EV portfolio.

Striking front design: Tech-Deck Face, Škoda lettering, and Unique Dark Chrome accents
The exterior sketches of the new Enyaq and Enyaq Coupé depict a bold, redesigned front end. At the heart of Škoda’s Modern Solid design language is the illuminated Tech‑Deck Face, which replaces the traditional Škoda grille. The split headlight design further refines the vehicle’s character, with the slimmer upper section seamlessly extending into the wings, complemented by bold bumpers. Unique Dark Chrome accents feature on the bonnet’s Škoda lettering as well as the lower bumpers and side skirts. These details are accentuated by the exclusive Olibo Green colour.

Enhanced aerodynamics boost the range
Both the Enyaq and Enyaq Coupé benefit from improved aerodynamics, thanks in part to the redesigned front section that adopts the Modern Solid design language. These updates not only refine the vehicles’ aesthetic but also optimise airflow, contributing to an extended range for both models. The Enyaq Coupé stands out as the most aerodynamic model in Škoda’s current line‑up, with its gently sloping roofline that flows seamlessly from the B‑pillar to the rear. The rear design is equally striking, featuring Škoda lettering in Unique Dark Chrome, a sharply defined tear‑off edge, the brand’s signature C-shaped rear lights, and body‑coloured side skirts.
